Description of Mountain Hardwear Direttissima Backpack
50 liter, heavy duty climbing pack for long days in tough conditions or multi-day trips. Hip belt, frame sheet and lid are removable, and the pack can be compressed to the body for small loads. Compression straps tuck away for a clean look and super-durable HardWear tarp slides over rocks and sharp edges.
"If you plan on climbing alpine style, then the Direttissima is the pack for you. The Direttissima's straightforward design allows you to fill it to the brim with everything you need for base camp without breaking your back. Take off the lid and strip it down for the perfect Alpine assault pack."

Just bought this on 5/3/2008 used it on Mt Hood the next day. It is a no-nonsense pack without all the extra stuff that no one needs. It has a good suspension system and is set up to carrys skis very well. The compression straps can be sinched down to carry smaller loads but it should be a very nice size for overnight climbs or even longer non-technical trips. The best climbing pack I have seen in a long time.
