it's a very innovative way of putting on the bindings, most bindings are pretty much the same, with a very few exceptions (k2 cinch, flow, burton sz...). but the k2 auto design or material selection needs lots of improvements. got a pair as a gift for my friend. the cable connecting the straps broke on him after 2-3 trips. got a replacement pair, and the cable broke on him again. i definitely applaud k2 for thinking outside of the box, trying new methods, however, they need to spend some more time testing their equipment prior to sale.
