K2 History
 The company called K2 was founded in 1961 by brothers Bill and Don Kirschner in Vashon Island, near Seattle, Washington. They have been dedicated to celebrating the human passion for sport and adventure since its inception. The K2 ski company is known for pioneering fiberglass ski technology, which made skis significantly lighter and more lively than their wood and metal contemporaries.
The equipment and accessories K2 manufactures and markets today have gained worldwide recognition and are embraced by everyone from novices to Olympic champions to professional athletes. K2 will accept nothing less than the best. All of their efforts are focused on reaching the summit of the industry. They will create ever better products that raise the bar of performance and celebrate the human spirit.The acquisition of Rawlings in 2006 adds another branch to a family tree with roots that can be traced back more than a century.
